Transportation

Air

Chicago is served by O'Hare International Airport (ORD), Midway International Airport (MDW). and Chicago/Gary International Airport (GCIA) .

There are shuttle busses (not free) from the airports to the Downtown area, or you can take Chicago Transit from O'Hare or Midway to the Holiday Inn. Please see below, under 'Local' for more information on Transit.

You can reach the hotel from the airport by Taxi if you prefer that.

Ground

Chicago is served by Amtrak and Greyhound. Within the city, there are light-rail Amtrak lines to the suburbs, as well as CTA/MTA busses and trains

Local

It will not be necessary to rent a car for the duration of the conference.

The Magnificent Mile is a 15 minute walk from the hotel. This area is downtown the way big downtowns used to be, with every kind of shopping and eating experience you can hope to find.

The distance between the two sites (hotel, Museum) is not that large to preclude walking. Only a few minutes.

People not wishing to walk can use either Chicago Transit, or share cabs.

Regarding transit both hotel and museum have nearby stops for Brown and Purple lines. Which of the lines is better depends on the direction to go:

Museum Washington/Wells Purple Line To Hotel

The map makes also clear that it is easy to get to and from Chicago O'Hare Airport.

Both show the relevant transit stops also, although not marked. They are the nearest stops to each location.

Food and Shopping

The Holiday Inn Chicago Mart is located in the heart of Chicago within walking distance of the Magnificent Mile, the riverfront, and the lake. Food, clothing, shopping, entertainment and excitement are all within easy walking distance.

There is a Metra station inside the hotel, so you can catch the subway without being exposed to Chicago's legendary weather.

Connectivity

The hotel has internet connections in each room and wireless access in the public area.

For presenters, computers will be available for use during your presentation. These will be equipped with Linux or Windows 2000 with MS Office or OpenOffice.

Chicago

For those of you coming early or staying late, Chicago-land is a large area with many sites and offerings.

In the downtown area, you'll find
